Hi. My name is Steve Collara. I am the owner of Chalmette Jewelry, Sports Optics and Sporting Goods Center LLC.

 

Chalmette Jewelry has been in business for 56 years. The business was founded by my father Joseph Collara Sr. in 1962. At that time our business was located in a small shop at 317 W. St. Bernard Hwy. In 1968 we moved to our current location at 507 W. St. Bernard Hwy.

 

I began working in my father's store at the age of 12.  By the age of 17, I furthered my knowledge of the business with an apprenticeship and started working full-time in the business in 1972.

 

We have kept our heritage of selling Jewelry and Watches and providing jewelry and watch repair services to our customers but we have also expanded our product line to include Sporting Goods.
